Tribrid Orbitrap (Eclipse, Thermo)

The tribrid mass spectrometer (Eclipse ThermoFisher Scientific) was installed in November 2019.

It combines nanoESI ionization with FAIMS. It allows the use of several fragmentation modes, such as CID, HCD, ETD, or UVPD. For protein analysis, we also plan to implement very soon the charge reduction procedure and the Nanomate Triversa source from Advion. Finally, it will address most of the highly demanding high-resolution analyses with an orbitrap analyzer scanning at 1M resolution (at m/z 200)

This instrument is more particularly dedicated to specific fragmentation modes such as ETD or EThCD, which is helpful for glycosylated peptides. It is also used for middle-down and top-down analysis, with or without LC coupling.
